Linda Murphy was born in Baltimore, Maryland and has been a native Marylander for most of her life. Throughout her childhood she would often spend time exploring and playing outdoors in the woods by creating spaces of adventure or solitude in nature. She currently resides in Howard County, Maryland where she works as a high school art teacher. She is a Nationally Board Certified Art Educator with over 20 years of experience at all grade levels. When she is not teaching art or exploring the beautiful trails of Howard County and yonder, she finds a way to stay connected to nature through her wood burned creations. Wood Burning is an intimate process that involves concentration and mindfulness. She takes time and care within the process of each handmade piece and work of art as form of visually guided meditation. Whatever the subject may be, it has meaning and purpose. It is her intention as an artist to continuously evolve and create, as well as connect others to their authentic spirits and to nature through her art.
